Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Accounting Manager (Anchorage)

REPORTS TO: Interim CFO

STATUS: Exempt

SALARY: $70,000 annual salary

JOB SUMMARY
The Accounting Manager works in office five days per week and is responsible for upholding the agency’s financial policies while recording the daily financial activity in QuickBooks Enterprise and other data systems. This role requires an individual who is knowledgeable about US GAAP and comfortable working in software and data management tools for extended periods of time throughout the day.

The Accounting Manager is also responsible for leading the accounting department in providing 5-star service to all internal and external constituents. An open-door policy and collaborative spirit is important.

The ideal candidate is willing to teach others as well as learn from others.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Build strong, supportive relationship with programming staff
• Accounts Payable with weekly disbursements
• Accounts Receivable
• Cash Management with oversight of all bank accounts
• Payroll review and Grant Allocations with a third-party provider
• Month End Close in collaboration with outsourced CFO
• Grant accounting and reporting
• Ad Hoc financial reports
• Facilitation of annual audit
• Supervision of Data Specialist
• Assistance with annual budget
• Support senior leaders with special projects as needed

Physical Requirements:
• Frequent communication - verbal and written.
• Frequent sitting and/or standing.
• Repetitive movement of hands and fingers - typing and/or writing.
• Visually or otherwise identify, observe and assess.
• Occasional stooping, kneeling or crouching.
• Reach with hands and arms.

Certifications and Clearances: Valid driver's license; proof of auto insurance. Federal Background check and TB test.

Required Proficiencies:
• Expert use of Quickbooks Enterprise
• US GAAP – (ASC958 is helpful)
• Advanced Excel skills, particularly in functions common to the accounting industry
• Sharepoint and MS Office Suite, Adobe
• Professional business writing skills
• Time management and organization
• Ability to work in electronic record keeping systems
