Normal Work Hours and Days: Regular office hours are 7AM to 5PM, Monday through Friday. May be required to work more dependent on workload. On call weekends and holidays, as needed.

Summary:
Responsible for assisting the planning, monitoring and coordination of financial management for revenues over $100 million. Provide oversight to accounting department and staff.

Essential Functions:
 Review A/P, A/R, and payroll weekly processes, and prepare a weekly cash flow summary
for the President.
 Prepare the monthly WIP spreadsheet for review with the President and VP of Operations.
 Assist President, VPs and General Managers in analyzing operations to evaluate the
performance of company. Provide technical assistance to executive management regarding
company finances.
 Close the books monthly and prepare financial statements for all companies on a monthly
basis.
 Oversee the activities of the accounting department staff and provide technical assistance,
training, and mentoring. Perform staff evaluation on a regular basis.
 Monitor the policies and systems of the accounting department.
 Inform Executive Team of legal, auditing, or other significant accounting problems.
 Assist in financial activities involved with buying and selling equipment and services.
 Monitor budgeting process and communicate budgetary issues impacting departmental performance.
 Monitor chart of accounts, sub-accounts, cost codes, cost types, job sequence, etc.
 Prepare and review account activities and reconciliation of general ledger as required.
 Monitor and analyze internal and external factors affecting finances so that opportunities for
enhancing organizational productivity, services and effectiveness may be pursued and
financial risks minimized.
 Enter project budgets in Sage.
 Monitor and analyze costs and controls expenditures in accordance with the G&A budget.
 Review payroll operations. Perform payroll function when needed.
 Review A/P and A/R operations. Perform these functions when needed.
 Initiate audits of Cruz accounts. Direct follow up actions on deficiencies revealed by audits
and recommend corrective action.
 Assist the President and Vice President with preparing the annual business plan.
 Develop, maintain, and monitor a system of vulnerability/risk assessments, internal
controls, and administrative procedures to guard against waste, fraud, and
mismanagement.
 Monitor payment of all insurance/benefits policies and programs.
 Review quarterly employer tax filings. Conduct quarterly and annual tax reporting and
planning activities.
 Be familiar with general tax laws and reporting requirements.
 Accomplish all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested by the President.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Provide direct oversight to the Accounting staff: payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function and preferably can also perform other tasks satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience:
Minimum:
 Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 10 years construction related accounting.
 Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience.

Preferred:
 CPA and 10 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience with a construction company as Controller OR Assistant Controller.
 Familiar with Sage 100 Contractor.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
 The ability to lead an accounting team.
 Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, banking, financial analysis, and reporting.
 Knowledge of construction payroll: including pay-group set ups, union benefits, workman’s comp.
 Knowledge of job costs, WIP schedules, and contracts.
 The ability to access company production/performance and identify financial actions needed to improve relative to the goals of the company.
 The ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to business financial problems.
 The ability to monitor and control resources and oversee the spending of money.
 The ability to provide guidance and advice to management on financial systems, processes, and strategies.
 The ability to manage an accounting conversion effectively.
 The ability to positively and professionally represent the company to stakeholders, customers, regulatory agencies and the public.
 The ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in writing so others will understand.
 The ability to understand and effectively communicate verbally with others, understanding cultural and gender differences.
 The ability to speak clearly so others can understand.
 The ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial documents.
